The Gillespie Middle School started a new program last year and it turned out to be very successful. If the student met or exceeded in all ISAT testings, their name was thrown into a raffle for various prizes. Some of the prizes up for grabs were an iPod shuffle, a Walmart gift card, Cardinal tickets, and Blues tickets.
The middle school office donated 3 iPod shuffles which were won by Ryan Sellers, Jason Hartke, and McKenzie Hartpence. Katrina Korunka, Devon Pendegraft, and Kyle Hill each snagged $50 on a Walmart gift card donated by PTO.
Joe DeMartini, Ben Polo, and Elizabeth Nance won 2 Cardinal tickets respectively with those three pair of tickets coming from Ms. Bray, Mr. Blotna, and Mr. Brawner. Mrs. Blevins donated the Blues tickets and Chandler McDaniel won those.
Lex Lupkey and Taylor Jacob won a $50 salon coupon in Edwardsville with those two items being donated by Miss Olson. Dominique Proctor won a $200 quality flooring gift certificate compliments of Quality Flooring and Dylon Penzotti won a 6 month membership to Ageless compliments of Dan and Michelle Fox.
All the students worked very hard during the testing and the raffles were just a small rewards program to help motivate the students. The middle school would like to thank everyone for their support and the donors for donating the items.
To help prepare students for next year’s testing, Mr. Wargo is assisting students in Ms. Willmann’s 7th grade Social Studies class during a lesson using iPads. They are working with geographical coordinates.
