Fat Daddy’s BBQ restaurant opened its doors in downtown Gillespie on November 1 and has been satisfying local’s taste buds ever since.
The restaurant was previously located in Mt. Olive before moving to Gillespie between Chief’s Bar and Dee-Dee’s Designs near the Gillespie Civic Center. The restaurant owned by a local couple with a combined 40 years of restaurant experience has a very inviting atmosphere for dining, but takeout orders are also accepted by calling 217-839-4227.
Daily lunch specials are available between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and all dinners are served with two sides and a dinner roll. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The expanded menu includes appetizers, sandwiches, dinners, salads and pizza.
The restaurant is founded on a 30-year-old recipe and classic menu items include slow smoked pulled pork, brisket, baby back ribs, smoked chicken and pork steaks. Traditional items like cheeseburger and fish sandwiches are also listed on the menu along with salads, pizza and desserts.
