The Benld Cemetery Association (BCA) is proud to announce the installation of two 24 niche columbariums for cinerary urns.
According to John Balzraine, President of the BCA, “Cremation of remains is a growing trend in today’s culture.”
In order to accommodate wishes of families, the BCA installed columbariums for those who wish cremation of remains as opposed to traditional burial. Each niche in these granite columbariums will accommodate 2 cinerary urns. The person’s name and dates of birth and death will be engraved on the door of each personal niche.
There will also be recognition of veterans on the door of the niche with room on the side of the columbarium for veterans’ brass plaques.
“We decided upon columbariums instead of a mausoleum for ease of public access,” said Balzraine, “and these granite structures are beautiful and very respectful for their intended purpose.”
There is more concrete work to be done at the site. Landscaping and lighting will be completed as weather permits. The BCA has set aside additional ground to add columbariums as the need arises. The BCA worked with Vesper Monument of Carlinville for the design and acquisition of these columbariums.
Columbarium niches are now available. Please contact the Kravanya Funeral Home at (217) 839-2154 for arrangements and information on the niches. The BCA invites everyone to please visit the Benld Cemetery to see the columbariums in place and to enjoy the serenity and beauty of its well-maintained grounds.
