The children of Peter and Louann (Mattes) Brown are happy to announce their parents 50th wedding anniversary. Peter and Louann met while attending college at SIU-Carbondale.
Both were originally from mid-northern Illinois hometowns. Peter was raised in Pekin and Louann in Decatur. They were married on June 8, 1968, in southern Illinois. Both are retired art teachers.
Peter taught art at Mt. Olive Schools while Louann taught art in the Southwestern district. After finding jobs in nearby school districts, they settled into their home in Gillespie where they have lived for over 45 years.
They have two daughters, Juliann (Caveny) and Mindy (Savant); five grandchildren, Ian, Brian, Colin, Ruby and Phoebe; and one grandson, Teddy. They enjoy being outside and tending to their yard. Both continue to use their creativity for personal and public projects.
Friends and family are invited to an open house at Peter and Louann’s home on June 9th from noon until 3. They request no gifts, only your presence. RSVP and/or questions can be directed to their daughter, Juli Caveny at 835-7862.
