Gillespie High School senior Zach Carr joined Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) at the Illinois Capitol in Springfield on Wednesday as a page for the day.
Carr, 17, has a strong interest in politics and learning about state government. His visit to the Capitol occurred during the final week of the Legislature’s fall veto session, where he observed – among other things – a bipartisan news conference led by Manar featuring more than 30 lawmakers who called on Gov. Bruce Rauner to return to the bargaining table with AFSCME.
“I would like to thank Andy Manar and all the people at the Capitol on making my experience awesome,” Carr wrote on social media. “I learned a lot.”
