Dwight E. Wayman, 81 of Medora, died at 3:52 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at his home. He was born on March 24, 1936, in Medora to the late Frank B. and Ethel L. (Moore) Wayman. Dwight married Wanda M. (Newby) Wayman on August 7, 1958 in Mt. Home, Arkansas. She survives and resides in Medora.
He retired from the Alton School District as the head groundskeeper after 35 years of service. Dwight was a member of the Kane Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with friends and family through the years, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Jack) Thurm of Medora and Rebecca A. Wayman of Medora and two grandchildren, Joshua (Danielle) Thurm of Kirkwood, Missouri and Laura Thurm of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Virginia Richey, Evelyn Lebro & Edith Wayman; and three brothers, Leonard, Gilbert & Harold Wayman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Medora. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Medora. Rev. Chuck Keene will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kane Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
