John Charles Watsek, 70, of Edwardsville, died at his residence on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 4:10 a.m. He was born on January 2, 1947, in Edwardsville to John Watsek and Lucille (Owens). He married Melody Ann (Meyer) Watsek on June 11, 1966, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto.
He was retired after having worked for Amoco Oil. He was also a farmer. John was a veteran of the US Air Force after having served during Vietnam. He enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, softball, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his spouse, Meldoy Watsek of Edwardsville; children, Kenneth Watsek of London, England, David Watsek of Edwardsville and Mark (Lisa) Watsek of Fosterburg; grandchildren, Nathan, Elijah, Kylie and Jordan; siblings, Robert (Bernice) Watsek of Moro, Ed Watsek of Roy, WA and Mary (Phillip) Jakielski of Mason Neck, VA; and brother in law, William Ward of Godfrey.
John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick Watsek; sister, Janet Ward; and sisters in law, Patricia Watsek and Lucinda Meyer.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway, IL with Pastor Lori Schaefer officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Midway, IL.
Memorials are suggested to St. John’s United Church of Christ or Donor’s Choice.
