Mary Alice Agney Moore, 92 of Taylor Springs, formerly of Gillespie, died at 1:20 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Hillsboro. She was born on January 1, 1926, in Taylor Springs, a daughter of Raymond Phillip and Verna Hazel (Elsie) Murphy. She married Harry Kenneth Moore on July 16, 1951, at her parents’ home in Taylor Springs.
Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed camping trips with her family and friends. She was known for her beautiful rose pillows she crotched. She enjoyed joining her husband in dancing to his music, he and his other band members played at various locations around central Illinois in their younger years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Moore; husband, Harry Moore; daughter, Beverly Jean Moore Striplin Stone; two brothers, Elmer Leroy and Thomas Samuel Agney; and two sisters, Doris Zella June Agney Rybarczyk and Blanche Angeline Agney Friesland Tharp.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Moore; four sisters, Lorraine Agney Collenberger of Coffeen, Shirley Agney Ivy of Hickson, TN, Mabel Jane Agney and Amos Segrest of Hillsboro, and Violet Agney of Taylor Springs; brother, Donald Lee Agney of Cottage Hills; sister in law, Hazel Howard Agney of Bunker Hill; son in law, Tom Stone of East Alton; two granddaughters, Lynne Ellen Striplin Dierking and Melissa Stone of Alton; five grandsons, George Edward Striplin Jr of Carlinville, Timothy and Anthony Stone of Alton Gene Stone of South Roxana, Michael and his wife Danielle of Wood River; four great granddaughters, Heather Pope, Courtney and Haley Striplin, Faith Dierking; and three great grandsons, Conner Stone, Michael Dierking and Nicholas Striplin and his wife Megan.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Christine Erdmann officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie Cemetery, Gillespie. Memorials may be made to Gillespie Cemetery.
