Death of Andrew Jackson “Jack” Settles
Andrew Jackson “Jack” Settles, 81, of Wilsonville, IL died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:25 pm at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL. He was born on April 24, 1931 in Cass County, IL to Homer Settles and Grace (Wright) Settles.
He married Dorothy (Hayes) Stankoven Settles. Andrew was a retired from the US Army where he was a veteran in the US Navy 1949-1950 and the US Army 1955-1974. He also retired as a laborer from AO Smith. He was a member of the VFW Post 4547 of Gillespie, IL, American Legion of Mt. Olive, IL, and the Progressive Club.
Andrew leaves behind his grandchildren: Jennifer Byrd of Wilsonville, IL, Scott Andrew Byrd of Wilsonville, IL, Nick Byrd of Wilsonville, IL, great granddaughter: Michelle Byrd, Great Grandson, Adam Byrd, step sons: Dick Stankoven of Sumter, SC, Don Stankoven of Wilsonville, IL, step daughter: Peaches Settles of Gillespie, IL, step grandchildren: Alan Young of Edwardsville, IL, Shanna Bruckert of Gillespie, IL, Brandy Bruckert Fisher of Athens, Greece, Robert Young, Lonnie Manalia, Ronnie Manalia, 7 step great grandchildren, brother: Danny Joe Settles of Boonesville, MS, sisters: Wanda Laurie of Gillespie, IL, Mildred Blevins of Gillespie, IL, Nellie Smith of Gillespie, IL, and Kathryn Stull of Derby, KS.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, daughter: Rosita Byrd, step daughter: Darlene Manalia, brothers: Jesse Bill Settles, Howard Edward Settles, Homer Eugene Settles, and sisters: Vera Maude Blevins, Edna Ellen Hopper.
Visitation is on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie, IL. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie, IL. Pastor Steve Friese is ministering the services.
