Annette Callovini, 92 of Staunton, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. She was born on April 21, 1928, in Staunton, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Hibbert) Hippey.
She married Albino Callovini on October 16, 1948, and he passed away on July 16, 2009. She started working at the Staunton Star-Times right out of high school and later worked at the Staunton Telephone Company. She retired from what was then Centel Telephone Company in 1983. She later volunteered at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra and was the secretary/treasurer there for a number of years.
Annette graduated from Staunton High School in 1946. She was an avid fisherman and St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed needlework, loved watching and feeding her hummingbirds, and loved making homemade meals for her family on Sundays.
She is survived by two sons, Phil (Merry) Callovini of Staunton and Alan (Debbie) Callovini of Staunton; six grandchildren, Phil (Angie) Callovini Jr., Marthee (Pete) Sansone, Mike (Amy) Callovini, Krystal (Matt) Marra, Cory Callovini, &and Daryl Callovini; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Callovini, and two sisters, Irene Tuscan and Doreen Coultas.
Public visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. All COVID-19 protocol will be observed during the visitation period. Memorials are suggested to either Adopt-A-Pet of Benld or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral services and burial will be private.
