Bettie Ann Rackley, 77 of Staunton, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 8:20 p.m. at Heritage Health in Staunton. She was born on Tuesday, November 23, 1937, in Parma, MO to Floyd and Janice (Frali) Flanigan.
She married Charles Rackley and they later divorced. Then she was engaged to William “Jim” Adler and they were companions for more than 25 years until the time of his death on Friday, October 2, 2009. Bettie was a factory worker for Nekoosa Packaging Company in Mt. Olive, currently Georgia-Pacific, and retired in 1987 after working for 10 years.
She was a member of the United Steel Workers.
Bettie leaves behind her son, Terry (wife, Suzzie) Rackley of Mt. Olive; four daughters: Deborah (husband, Dean) Cleeton of Gillespie, Brenda Rackley of Staunton, Patricia Rackley of Staunton and Kelly Rackley of Du Quoin, IL; eight grandchildren: Dustin (fiancé, Jenna) Hoog, Charla (husband, Darren) Windau, Jayme Whitaker, Chaunicy Rackley, Bianca Whitaker, Paige Garner, Kyla Rackley and Desmond Clark; six great grandchildren: Nora, Chloe, Isabelle, Henry, Brynlee and Sawyer; four sisters: Nina Dobbs, Sue Bundren, Darlene Gardner and Barbara Barnett; brother, Charles Flanigan; two very close friends: Rose Werner and Peggy Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Rackley; companion, William “Jim” Adler; and sister, Shelby Hale.
Memorial service will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston, IL. Reverend Maurice Alms will serve as clergy. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Health in Staunton or to the American Cancer Society, both made in memory of Bettie Rackley.
The Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston is in charge of arrangements.
