David Paul (Butch) Struebig, 71 of Mt. Olive, formerly of Staunton, passed away on August 31st, 2019. He was born on February 12th, 1948, in Chicago, a son of the late Fred and Jeanne (Babinec) Struebig. David grew up in South Milwaukee, WI and graduated from South Milwaukee High School.
David served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971 attaining the rank of sergeant. Following his time in the Air Force, David moved to Staunton and worked as an operating engineer for the Olin Corporation for nearly 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, spending time with family and friends, and was always quick with a joke for nearly any occasion. David was a life member of VFW Post 1241 in Staunton.
David is survived by two children, Kristina May of Staunton and Stephen (Teresa) Struebig of Logan, UT; girlfriend, Charlotte Walker of Mt. Olive; sisters, Donna Van de Hey and Linda Bryan of Staunton; brother, Lee Struebig of Staunton; grandsons, Zachary May and Stephen (Kayla) May; great-grandchildren, Blaykelynne May and Xander May; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jeanne Struebig, and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Van de Hey and Mike Bryan.
The family will plan a celebration of life and internment of cremains at a later date. Memorials are suggested to VFW Post 1241 in Staunton or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
