Dorothy May Girth, 95 of Bunker Hill, passed away at 4:12 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Brooking Park, Chesterfield, MO. She was born February 6, 1923, in Moro Twp, Madison County to John Cooper and Bertha (Dettmers) Cooper. She married Edward B. Girth on September 25, 1948. He passed away July 5, 2005.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bunker Hill for 56 years and after the church closed in 2004, she was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton. She was a former member of the St. Anne’s Altar Society, Ladies Auxiliary of both the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Monsignor Patrick F. Carroll and Bishop McNicholas Councils, Lewis and Clark Rose Society, the Greater St. Louis Rose Society and the Bunker Hill Beautification Committee helping plant many tulip bulbs around the Lincoln Statue.
She is survived by her daughters, Candice Girth (special friend, Mark Beuke) of Wildwood, MO and Cynthia Girth of Wildwood, MO; sister in law, Nora Girth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter and son in law, Deborah and Harvey Geer; plus three brothers and two sister in laws, Robert and Marie Cooper, Roger and Dorothy Cooper and Raymond Cooper.
Visitation services were held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill and funeral mass was held on Friday, December 28 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Staunton with Father George Radosevich officiating. Memorials are suggested to St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Cemetery. Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
