Esther Loraine Millburg, 91, of Litchfield, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at 11:03 a.m. at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield. She was born on December 3, 1923, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Henry T. and Ida (Keiser) Grosenheider.
After graduating from Litchfield High School, Esther married Alfred Joseph Millburg on April 10, 1945, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2013. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield where she participated in St. Anne’s Society and was a member of the Home Extension Group.
She was a homemaker and farmwife. In her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and Pinochle and having coffee at Jubelt’s Bakery.
She is survived by son, Gerald (Carol) Millburg of Litchfield; two daughters, Janet (Rex) Stauffer of Bloomington and Mary Ann (John) Leitschuh of Litchfield; six grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Stauffer of Millstadt, Jennifer (Kevin) Anderson, Becky (Ken) Muehlfelder, all of Oswego, Brian (Dee) Leitschuh of Litchfield, Jamie Leitschuh of Winter Garden, FL and Tommy Millburg of Litchfield; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob & Sydney Stauffer, Jordyn & Jens Anderson, Karsyn, Delaney & Collin Muehlfelder and Matt & Zach Leitschuh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; and her half-brother, Eldred Grosenheider.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Mass of Christian burial will be said Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield. Fr. Daniel Willenborg, of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, IL, will preside. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield.
The family suggests memorials to Litchfield Food Pantry or St. Anne’s Society.
