Kathryn I. Dey, 100, of Bunker Hill, died at Rosewood Care Center in Alton on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 11:55 a.m. She was born on January 24, 1918, in Dorchester to Emery Kahl and Jessie (Pinkerton) Kahl. She married Clinton Dey on March 5, 1938, in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1995.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Dorchester Elevator and Schrier Bakery in Bunker Hill. Kathryn was a member of the Macoupin County Home Bureau, Macoupin County Cancer Board, and Centerville ATA Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Charles Dey of Bunker Hill and Deanna Fenton of Godfrey; grandchildren, Debbie (Greg) Miller, Darla Searcy, Dennis (Shannon) Dey, Doug (Stephanie) Dey, Dena (Steve) Osterman, Diane (Todd) Page, Dawn (Matt) Markel, Danielle (Ron) Helmkamp, Donovan Dey, Dru Dey, Dana Dey, Kim (Hayden) Parks, Kelly (Gus) Gast, and Kristy (Pat) Varble; 32 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Goodrick.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; son in law, Robert Fenton; great-grandchild, Jacob Dey; great-great-grandchild, Evelynn Santel; and siblings, Myrtle Boone, Ralph Kahl, Helen Hand, Leonard Kahl, Clara Darnell, Floyd Kahl, and Clarence Kahl.
Visitation services were held on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with funeral services following. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Care Center in Alton for their kind and loving care given to Kathryn during her time there.
