Larry A. Kuba, 77 of Staunton, died Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Heritage Health in Staunton. He was born on September 10, 1942, in Highland, a son of the late Mr. Andrew Kuba and the late Mrs. Viola (Finke) Basso.
He graduated from Staunton High School in 1960. Larry played football at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) for four years and graduated from there with a bachelor of science degree in 1965. He earned his master’s degree in education in 1970 and also earned an administrative degree. He married Sharon Kinnikin on August 14, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and she died on December 24, 2009. Larry was a high school math teacher, coach, and educator at Staunton High School in Staunton for many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.
He is survived by his daughter, Alison (Vincent) Hasquin of Staunton; son, Andrew (Jennifer) Kuba of Malvern, OH; five grandchildren, Eric & Emily Hasquin of Staunton, and Megan, Kaitlyn, and Evan Kuba of Malvern, OH; brother, Roger W. (Jane) Kuba of Westfield, IN; sister, Vickie Blaine of Collinsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfathers, Joe Secco and Guido Basso.
Visitation services will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon at the church with Rev. Kelly Mitteis officiating. Per his wishes, his remains will be donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
