Lois M. Stewart, 85 of Wilsonville, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 2, 2020, at 9:10 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on February 9, 1935, in Worden to Naomi Anna Emma and Albert Deming. She married Jack Stewart on June 29, 1973, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2005.
Everyone that met or knew Lois felt her love and kindness immediately. She cared and prayed for each and every family member and friend, even for people she didn’t know. She wore her beliefs faithfully. She was a member of First Christian Church in Worden and enjoyed playing cards, games, coloring pencil art, and putting puzzles together. She had a green thumb and a love for flowers, especially her roses.
Lois is survived by one brother, Leroy (Chap) Deming of Lampe, Missouri; children, James Stewart of Livingston, Patricia Hicken of Mt. Olive, Bonnie Stewart of Gillespie, Joe (Terry) Stewart of Gillespie, and Wayne (Sondra) Stewart of Worden; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Tom) Grider of Staunton; grandchildren, Tom Stewart of Seattle, WA, Kenny Stewart, Cory Stewart, & Tim Stewart, all of Taylorville, Anthony Ferrero of Paducah, KY, Jimmy Ferrero of Nokomis, Bobby Pike & Stephen Pike, both of Mt. Olive, Michael Stewart of Melbourne, FL, Tonya Leitschuh of Leroy, IL, Steffani Mansholt-Verduin of Chatham, Chi Ebert-Pelo of Staunton, Tori Devries-Temme of St. Peters, MO, Joey Pieper of Belleville, Jennifer Stewart of Gillespie, and Gina Matthews & Shaila Lesicko, both of Worden; niece, Mary Baker of Lampe, MO; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and her friends and family at Glenwood Assisted Living.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Dale Stewart; granddaughter, Laila Stewart; sister-in-law, Louise Deming; and daughter-in-law, Ann Stewart.
Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Williamson Funeral Home will be transporting her to her final resting place. Pastor Nathan Martin will be officiating.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced at her church in Worden. All memorials should go to the First Christian Church in Worden.
