Margaret “Peggy” Bertha Mansholt, 87, died peacefully on July 26, 2015, at 6:52 p.m. at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. She was born on November 3, 1927, in Worden, Illinois to Alvin and Emma (Pieper) Henke.
Margaret married Earl Mansholt and together they farmed near Bunker Hill. They divorced in 1995, but continued to care deeply for one another. Margaret worked for the U.S. Post Office in Bunker Hill for many years and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill. She enjoyed traveling, social activities with friends, reading, and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Gerald Mansholt (Anita) of Appleton, Wisconsin, Craig (Joan) Mansholt of Bunker Hill, and Barbara Welch Mansholt (Michael Welch) of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren including, Paula Mansholt of Bunker Hill and daughters Heather Moore of Wood River and Britney Moore of Brighton, Christa Mansholt-Choy (Manuel Choy) of North Easton, Massachusetts and daughters Sydney and Elliot, Monica Benolkin (Scott) of Columbus, Ohio and daughter Claire, Jennifer Martin (Art) of Bunker Hill, Jonathan Mansholt (Carrie) of Bunker Hill, Taylor Brien of Phoenix, Arizona and Bryce Brien of Bettendorf, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Dorothea Henke, Amanda Mansholt and Alfred Henke, and twin great granddaughters, Felicity and Grace Benolkin.
Visitation services will be on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, August 1, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill, IL. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill on August 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating. Burial will be at the Bunker Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief and Bunker Hill Public Library.
