Sue (Walton) Gilmer, 81 of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on March 2, 1938, in Vandalia, a daughter of the late John William Walton and Laura Garland.
She married J.C. Gilmer on November 22, 1971, in Highland and he passed away June 17, 2006. Sue worked as a hairdresser and was a past member of Concordia Hall of Staunton.
She is survived by one son, Bob Gilmer of Staunton; step daughter, Michele Gilmer of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Austen Pittkanen, Heather Siebert, Megan Siebert, Tasha Keelin, Clifford Keelin, Logan Miller, and Ambreille Gilmer; two great-grandchildren, Aubrei and Neveah Gilmer; sister, Joy Orr of Vandalia; brother, Kenneth (Beverly) Walton of Vandalia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Steven Siebert, Ronald Siebert, and Kenneth Siebert; two sisters, Marcella Bauman and Margaret Aldridge; and three brothers, Donald Walton, John Walton, and Dean Walton.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor David Baker officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
