On Saturday morning, October 22, Ruth Wolf saw the face of her Lord and Savior as she left this life to spend eternity with her family. Ruth was born on April 28, 1927 in Beardstown Illinois to Carl and Marie (Spencer) Opper. She later moved to East Peoria and then on to Greenfield Illinois where she graduated from Greenfield High School in 1944.
Ruth married Louis Wolf Jr. on July 6, 1947 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. Ruth was a stay at home mother raising four children. She took a job as a school cook when her youngest started 7th grade. In 1977 she fulfilled her life long dream of entering nursing school. She graduated from Capital Area School of Nursing as an LPN the same year her youngest graduated from High School. She worked at Weatherford Nursing Home and it was one of her greatest joys.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, her flower beds, camping and quilting. She loved her church and taught Sunday school for several decades.
Besides her husband she leaves behind her four children, Sherrill (Leslie) Totsch of Carlinville; Wendy (Rodney) Frankford, of Hettick, Chris Wolf of San Antonio, TX and Lisa Wolf of Carlinville; five grandchildren, Linda (Keith) Gray of Carlinville, Becky (Butch) Reels of Carlinville, Mark (Nikki) Totsch of Carlinville, Jessica Wolf of Wauconda, IL and Craig (Kara) Frankford of Carlinville; 11 great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Gray, Cora Anne Gray, Clara Gray, Rex Reels, Kip Reels, Jay Reels, Lana Totsch, Brendan Totsch, Kinna Frankford, Cagney Frankford and Rhett Frankford; five nieces and nephews;12 great nieces and nephews; and 21 great-great nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eileen Mears Morrow; brother-in-law, Raymond Mears; brother-in-law, Russ Morrow; brother, Fred Opper; sister-in-law, Eunice Opper Adcock; brother-in-law, Perry Adcock, and one niece, Maralee Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery, rural Carlinville.
