Sally I. Courtney, 77 of Staunton, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton. She was born on February 20, 1939, in Litchfield, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Sipes.
She married James Scott Courtney on July 8, 1959, in Montgomery County, Illinois and he passed away on December 31, 2008. She was a bartender at the Staunton VFW and the Mt. Olive VFW.
She is survived by son, Brad (Toni) Courtney of Staunton; daughters, Lauri (Kevin) Ebersohl of Staunton and Brenda (Mark) Lowe of Gillespie; daughter-in-Law, Randi Courtney of Staunton; 18 grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Ragsdale, Mikey Courtney, Allison (Derek) Barber, Bradley Courtney, Mindy Courtney, Jana Courtney, James Blum, Jessica Blum, Cory Millsap, Sarah Ebersohl, Jessica (Tim) Lack, Brandon (Alex) Ziegler, Lonnie Ziegler, Zachary Ziegler, Jacob Ziegler, Sarah Chronister, Katie (Alex) Serrano and Jennifer Chronister; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Jo) Sipes of Florida; sister, Patricia (Richard) Maly of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Mike Courtney; daughter, Jami Courtney Ottwein; one great granddaughter; brother, Billy Sipes; and sister, Betty Lovejoy.
Visitation services will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
