Joyful noise of God will echo through the Benld City Park this evening, July 8, as Fireproof Band will take the stage during the tenth annual summer concert series in the Benld City Park. The concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. and lasting until 8:30 p.m., but the park will open at 6 p.m. so you can get one of the best seats for this anticipated event.
Fireproof had one of the largest crowds during the 2013 summer concert series and Executive Director of the CCCC, Mickey Robinson, expects this year will be even larger. “Last year I think they had more than 500 people here, it’s going to be a good one,” Robinson explained.
The band was formed out of United Methodist Church of Gillespie two years ago in 2012 with the abundance of musical talent throughout the church. Expect to hear contemporary Christian pop music like you would hear on Christian radio stations.
The long time area musicians who will be on stage are Gay Farrar (keyboards/vocals), Phil Claro (guitar/vocals), Jeff Nehls (guitar/vocals), Jim Allen (bass/sound), Jim Savant (drums/vocals) and additional vocals from Allison Beckett, Edie Friese and Deanna Claro.
The concerts take place under the covered pavilion on the South side of the Benld City Park and are free to the public. Attendees are urged to bring a lawn chair and their appetite as the concession serves up Italian beef, hot dogs, big smokies and strawberry shortcake sundaes.
