Three members of the Gillespie High School FFA Chapter recently attended the 88th annual Illinois State FFA Convention and met a milestone in their FFA career.
Emily Harszy, Marissa Hartke and Amber Manus each earned the State FFA Degree during this year’s annual convention – the Illinois Association FFA’s highest degree of membership. They all put in a lot of time, effort and finances in their record book in order to obtain the award.
Harszy and Hartke were also chosen out of the 15 individuals who earned the state degree to serve as “Stars” in their respected area. Hartke was named to serve as Star Farmer and Harszy was named to serve as Star in AgriBusiness.
“Build” was the theme of the three-day FFA event and students took part in a number of activities including an exhibit hall of colleges and businesses, an evening dance and talent show, keynote presentations and also an entertainment section by Mark Hood, a former contestant on “The Voice”.
