Gillespie Middle School announced on Monday the leaders of the month for May. Recipients of the award are Isaiah Little, Cayden Woodard, Anthony Kravanya, Austin Carney, Lanie Doty and Jack Herron.
Faculty members nominated the students based on their attitude, participation and performance in the classroom.
Cayden Woodart, the son of Erin and Matthew Jackson, was nominated by Mrs. Prough. He said, “I am a student leader because I am kind, helpful and responsible.”
Ms. Bray named Anthony Kravanya, the son of Marion and Anthony Kravanya, as the physical education leader. “I try to help people and listen to instructions so I know what to do, but mostly to try and have fun and do what I’m told.”
Austin Carney, son of Jessica Carney, was named as Ms. Berkel’s leader of the month and Isaiah Little, son of Shelli and David Mcintyre, was named as Mrs. Clark’s leader of the month.
Lanie Doty, the daughter of Christy Blank and Brian Doty, was nominated for the monthly award by the sixth grade team. She said she turns her homework in every time and stands up for other people instead of standing there watching. “A leader at Gillespie Middle School does those things and more,” Doty added.
Seventh grade teachers chose Jack Herron, the son of Mary Kirk and Jerrod Herron, as the May leader of the month. “By using my leadership skills, I influence others to work harder, be more respectful and to listen to the teachers,” Herron said of the award.
