With the continued increase in demand for COVID testing and vaccination, the Macoupin County Health Department urges the public to check their website for the most up-to-date procedures for both testing and vaccination.
Last week due to the increase in volume of COVID testing and the Governor’s Executive Order, COVID testing now requires pre-registration by completing the registration online or calling 217-313-5078. To ensure testing the same day, register yourself online before 9 a.m. of the day you wish to be tested. No same-day registrations will be accepted after 9:45 a.m. or onsite.
All testing is being offered at 109 East Maple Street in Gillespie in a drive-through manner. All patients will remain in their cars and follow signage in the parking lot.
Vaccines, whether its the first, second or booster dose, are being given out of the health department’s mobile unit located at 109 E Maple Street in Gillespie. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The vaccines are offered free of charge and preregistration is also required by completing the online registration or by calling 217-313-5078.
Those qualifying for the third booster dose of either Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine must present a doctor’s note at the time of the vaccination but cannot be administered before 28 days after the second vaccine dose.
When a booster dose is approved for the general population, the Macoupin County Public Health Department will provide instruction on how to receive the vaccine.
