Matesa maintains 3.5 GPA at SLU
ST. LOUIS – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has recognized the Saint Louis University softball program as an All-Academic Team for the 2010-11 academic year, while six Billiken student-athletes have earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
Saint Louis’ 3.285 grade point average was the best in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2010-11. The Billikens ranked 46th nationally in team GPA.
In addition, Kristain Burger, Kerri Dockins, Rachel Faletto, Kelcie Matesa, Kristin Nicoletti and Caitlin Trevillyan were named to the All-America Scholar-Athlete list. To be included, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA for the entire year.
“Our accomplishments in the classroom are a great source of pride for our program,” head coach Christy Connoyer said. “From the time our student-athletes are recruits until they graduate, we emphasize to them the importance of academic achievement and the value of a Saint Louis University education. Earning the NFCA awards indicates they are taking full advantage of the wonderful educational opportunities they have at SLU.”
