Gillespie High School ended homecoming week with the student body electing Tanner King and Amanda Schmidt to reign as 2016 Homecoming King and Queen during the school’s homecoming dance held Saturday evening.
King is the son of Micah and Mandy King, Gillespie, and Schmidt is the daughter of Weye and Nancy Schmidt, Gillespie. First runners up were Zach Carr and Emily Barylske.
Other members of the senior court included: Nick Jarman, Ethan Blevins, Chandler McDaniel, Trevor Fredericks, Hannah Doty, Ally Bires, Liberty Hartley and Mya Sudmeier.
This year’s homecoming theme was “games” with each class decorating a hallway inside the high school and constructing a float. Events that took place during Homecoming Week included dress up days, first annual Homecoming Olympic Games, hot dog and s’more snacks by a fire, chili cook off, senior and faculty breakfast, a pep rally and the homecoming parade.
