Dear Editor,
Benld Native, Johnny Seketa comes home to Benld from his residence in South Carolina every year and volunteers for the Memorial Weekend celebration. I am writing this letter to express my thanks for everything he does in preparation for the City’s annual Italian American Day celebration. From cutting the city’s grass, painting fire hydrants, picking up debris from Central Avenue’s gutters, cleaning out ditches, making spaghetti sauce, setting up bingo to just trying to make Benld look nice in every respect, no task is too big for Johnny.
His civic mind and ways always attempt to make Benld a better and nicer place. If you see Johnny next time when he is home, tell him “thank you.”
I also want to thank all the members of the Benld Italian American Club and the volunteers for their hard work on this year’s Italian American Days celebration. Benld would not be the same without the tradition of Italian American Days.
Benld resident,
Peyton Bernot
