Hi, my name is Owen Sullivan. I have been an independent pharmacy owner and pharmacist for the past 26 years in Central Illinois. Typically, I keep my politics to myself, especially as a small business owner. I generally lean Republican, but I have always voted for the candidate that best represents my beliefs, morals and what is best for our communities and state.
I have spent the last year of my life highlighting the corruption and abuse of state tax dollars by Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBMs). It has been alarming watching our State Representatives and State Senators, regardless of party, chose to turn a blind eye to this blatant abuse of taxpayer dollars.
All the while, I have witnessed State Senator Andy Manar invest countless hours to fully educate himself regarding how PBMs abuse our health care system, costing our state hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars and threatening scores of small business owners here in Central and Southern Illinois. Andy Manar has become a champion in exposing and cracking down on the corrupt practices of PBMs.
I found it unsettling how easily legislators were swayed in favor of PBMs and their corporate allies at the expense of Illinois taxpayers and small business owners like me.
Senator Andy Manar is fighting against this corruption. Powerful corporate special interests have thrown every obstacle in our path. But Andy Manar has refused to cave and has built a coalition of small business owners and taxpayers to fix this broken and crooked part of our healthcare system.
I have experienced, first-hand, Andy Manar’s ethical character. He has been hard-working, honest and has prioritized the best interests of our communities. These are the same values that Andy brings to every fight in the Illinois Senate – including landmark education funding reform.
Andy Manar is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t vote just the party.
Our elected leaders should be independent and should always have our best interests in mind. Time and time again, Andy Manar has proven that he is not a typical “yes man” for his political party. That is also why gubernatorial candidate Sam McCann is running as an independent. He refuses to be a “yes man.” Sam is working with me on legislation that will end the corruption and abuse of state tax dollars by PBMs.
For that, Republican Owen Sullivan is voting for Democrat Andy Manar and independent Sam McCann for Governor!
Thank you,
Owen Sullivan
