Dear Editor,
The Carlinville Tourism Committee will once again decorate the Macoupin County Courthouse for Christmas. We are offering a wonderful way to honor your loved ones this holiday season. To add a little charm to the Courthouse, we have purchased battery operated candles to place in the windows. For a donation of $5, we will place an ”in memory of” or “in honor of” card on a candle for you. Donations for the candles will be used to purchase seasonal decorations for the Courthouse throughout the year.
You can learn more about our magnificent Courthouse through guided tours on Saturday, December 3rd from 1:00-3:00. Tours will begin every 30 minutes. Price for the tour will be $5 per person, half of which will go to the Courthouse Renovation Fund. Children under 12 are free. We will again be hosting an Open House that evening from 6:00-8:00 which will give the public a chance to see the decorations at night. Admission to the Open House will be a donation to the Courthouse Renovation Fund which will go toward the repair of the 146 year old Judge’s chair.
If you would like to purchase a memory/in honor of card, please send your request to Carlinville Tourism Committee c/o Andrea Duncan 343 Dutch Lane Carlinville, Illinois 62626 or drop it off at the Carlinville Chamber of Commerce Office on the northeast side of the Square. Make checks payable to Carlinville Tourism Committee with Courthouse candles on the memo line. Please include name(s) of those you want to honor.
If you would like to help with the repair of the Judge’s chair, donations can be made directly to the Macoupin County Community Foundation. Checks can be made out to the MCCF and sent to:
Macoupin County Community Foundation
PO Box 45

(Please include Courthouse Renovation on memo line)
We would like to invite all the citizens of Macoupin County to take a step back in time and join us for an old fashion Christmas on Saturday, December 3 at the “Million Dollar Courthouse”.
Thank you for helping to make the Courthouse the “Jewel of the County”.
Andrea Duncan
