LAWSUITS

Susan Pirok has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Monica Link, Staunton, seeking $1,000 in alleged back rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 800 block of Page Street, Staunton.

Macoupin County Housing Authority has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Jenna Storey seeking possession of an apartment in Olroyd Court, Carlinville, plus a judgement for rent, attorney fees and other fees allegedly owed. The complaint claims Storey violated a “one strike” provision of her lease agreement by committing a criminal act of endangering the life, health or safety of a child by being too intoxicated to care for the child, and by allowing a person not listed on the lease to reside at the residence.

Gary William Abmeyer of St. Louis, acting as his own attorney, is suing Aaron E. Bellm, a Carlinville attorney, for $20,973.65 in damages, alleging negligence and/or malpractice. Abmeyer claims to have retained Bellm to represent him in connection with a review by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services regarding past due child support arrearages allegedly due to Abmeyer from Deborah L. Chitty, the mother of the child for which Abmeyer has custody. The suit alleges Bellm failed to provide “a minimum standard of care as evidenced by a lack of action, missed filing deadlines, neglect, undue delays and a lack of effective, accurate communication with the plaintiff.”

Credit Acceptance Corp is suing Sherry L. Proctor for $11,051.40, plus interest accruing since Nov. 10, 2014, and $350 in attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted loan executed for the purchase of a 2012 Toyota vehicle.

SMALL CLAIMS

United Community Bank is suing Yavonne S. Johnson, Carlinville, for $3,093.56, plus interest and attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted promissory note executed on March 27, 2013.

United Community Bank is suing Steven Meyer, Carlinville, for $1,532.62, plus interest and attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted promissory note executed on Sept. 29, 2015.

Legacy Emergency Services of Southern Illinois is suing Joseph Richards, Bunker Hill, for $1,269 allegedly owed for medical goods and services.

Dollars Today, Inc., Wood River, is suing Jamie L. Campbell, Staunton, for 1,005.80, plus interest and attorney fees, allegedly owed on an $800 payday loan/promissory note executed Sept. 18.

Consumer Collection Management is suing Wade Hurley, Bunker Hill, for a total of $1,097.87. The judgment sought includes $542.27 allegedly owed to Washington University and $555.61 allegedly owed to Illini Medical Associates for medical goods and services.

Credit Acceptance Corp is suing Allen D. Lefler, Jr., and Kristina L. Gown, both of Bunker Hill, for $8,536, plus attorney fees, allegedly owed on a defaulted auto loan executed in March 2014 for the purchase of a 2011 Dodge Journey from 5-Star Auto Plaza, St. Louis.

FELONIES

Emmanuel D. Welch, 19, Royal Lakes, is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a May 19 incident during which he allegedly possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.

Bryan D. Greff, 21, Virden, is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in connection with an Oct. 4 incident during which he allegedly was in possession of a 2005 Cadillac CTS while knowing the vehicle to be stolen.

Aaron P. Parks, 42, Alton, is charged with aggravated battery in connection with a May 13 incident during which he allegedly struck another individual in the face with his closed fist, breaking an orbital bone.

Brenda A. Eddington, 23, Girard, is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with an Oct. 6 incident during which she allegedly possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing a form of methamphetamine.

Amber N. Beasley, 23, Bunker Hill, is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a May 15 incident during which she allegedly possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing heroin.

Aaron E. Elston, 18, Rochester, is charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials in connection with an Oct. 9 incident.

Matthew T. Grooms, 26, Springfield, is charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials in connection with an Oct. 9 incident.

Jessica S. Ulery, 25, Palmyra, is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with an Oct. 12 incident in Palmyra during which she allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. Also in connection with the same incident, Ulery faces traffic charges of operating an uninsured vehicle, driving on a suspended driver’s license and operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

Jade N. Donaldson, 25, Girard, is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with an incident earlier this month during which she allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

David M. Kierbach, 41, Mount Olive, is charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance in connection with an incident on Oct. 12 during which he allegedly delivered less than one gram of a substance containing heroin to three other individuals. Kierbach also faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance for allegedly being in possession of less than 15 grams of a substance containing heroin.

Corey D. Willis, 19, Carlinville, is charged with possession of cannabis in connection with intent to deliver in connection with an incident in Carlinville during which he allegedly possessed 10 to 30 grams of a substance containing cannabis with the intent to deliver.

Chelsie L. Freytag, 24, Nilwood, is charged with delivery of methamphetamine in connection with a June 30 incident during which she allegedly delivered less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine to another individual.

MISDEMEANORS

Steven L. Fanning, 52, Mount Olive, is charged with aggravated assault in connection with an Oct. 11 incident in Mount Olive during which he allegedly swung a knife at another individual.

David J. Karrick, 35, Carlinville, is charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of a substance containing cannabis in connection with an incident earlier this month.

John L. Cartwright, 31, Sawyerville, is charged with obstructing a peace officer in connection with an Oct. 4 incident during which he allegedly fled into his residence and refused to come out after being ordered to remain in his vehicle by a Benld police officer who was investigating an alleged traffic offense.

Allen J. Wheeler, 30, Chesterfield, is charged with criminal trespass to property in connection with an Oct. 13 incident during which he allegedly entered McClintock’s Restaurant on Standard City Road, Girard, after receiving notice from the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department at the request of the restaurant owner that he was banned from the property.

TRAFFIC

Crystal D. Siefke, 32, Livingston, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and operating an uninsured motor vehicle as a result of a traffic stop at 3:21 a.m., Oct. 11, in the 100 block of Hibbard Street, Staunton.

Dagoberto V. Garcia, 22, Staunton, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop at 2:34 a.m., Oct. 14, on Reservoir Road, Staunton. Additionally, Garcia faces traffic charges of driving without a valid driver’s license, speeding 24-34 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, and illegal operation of a sound amplification system.

Ashley R.Summers, 34, Alton, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage as a result of a traffic stop at 1:10 a.m., Oct. 12, on North Maple Street in Brighton.

Jonathan D. Genisio, 29, Gillespie, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop at 2:50 a.m., Oct. 11, on Staunton Road at Charles Street in Gillespie. In addition, Genisio faces traffic charges for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to notify the Secretary of State’s office of a change of address, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
