LAWSUITS
The State of Illinois, through the office of Attorney General Lisa Madigan, is suing a Carlinville man to recover more than $11,000 in Workers Compensation claims paid out on behalf of an Illinois State Police trooper who was injured in a Jan. 24, 2014, traffic accident near Carlinville. According to the suit, the defendant, Jimmy Hudgins, was driving a westbound vehicle that rear-ended a westbound patrol car driven by Trooper Glen Brunnworth about 1:34 p.m. on Illinois Route 4 west of Carlinville, causing Brunnworth to sustain injuries to his neck, back and right knee. The suit claims the Department of Central Management Services has since paid out $11,251.02 in Workers Compensation claims on Brunnworth’s behalf. Citing an Illinois law that allows recovery of Workers Compensation payments from the person who caused the employee’s injury, the suit claims Hudgins was negligent in that he allegedly drove too fast for conditions, followed the Brunnworth vehicle too closely and failed to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid the accident. The suit seeks the amount paid in Workers Compensation claims to date, subject to increase, plus court costs.
Sandra Hanson, Granite City, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Dustin and Ashley Miller, Lake KaHo, seeking possession of residential premises located in the 21000 block of Timber Lane, plus an unspecified judgment for damages, court costs and cleaning fees.
SMALL CLAIMS
Bodyfit, Carlinville, is suing Rebecca Beichler, Carlinville, for $574.91, plus court costs and attorney fees, that Beichler allegedly owes on an overdue bill.
Discover Bank is suing Kate Lee, Bunker Hill, for $1,908.79, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.
C & C Consulting Services, Inc., Greenfield, is suing Butch Probst, Palmyra, for $225.25, plus court costs, that Probst allegedly owes for computer repairs.
Heights Finance Corp., East Peoria, is suing Brandon Lyons, Gillespie, for $3,795.63, plus court costs and attorney fees, allegedly owed on a Federal Disclosure Statement executed on Nov. 18, 2014.
David Burcham, doing business as Illinois Deer Processing, Carlinville, is suing John R. and Penny M. Morgan, Jerseyville, for $144.45, plus court costs, that the defendants allegedly owe on an overdue bill.
John and Deborah Hoefker, Mount Olive, are suing Robert and Stephanie Jordan, seeking $2,000 plus court costs for “court and days lost of work.”
FELONY
Cody J. Alexander, 25, Hillsboro, is charged with two counts of felony retail theft in connection with a Dec. 13, 2015, incident during which he allegedly took control of a television, remote control, speakers, memory foam pad and a stuffed Mickey Mouse doll with a total value in excess of $300 and left the Carlinville Walmart store via an emergency exit.
MISDEMEANORS
Aaron R. Carr, 24, Carlinville, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a Jan. 17 incident during which he allegedly struck his father in the face with his closed fist, causing the older man to sustain swelling and cuts around his eyes.
Michael R. Pitman, 29, Virden, is charged with battery in connection with a Dec. 31, 2015, incident during which he allegedly struck another man in the head with his fist.
Tyler A. Phillips, 24, Mount Olive, is charged with obstructing a peace officer in connection with an Aug. 9, 2015, incident during which he allegedly ran away from a Benld police officer after being ordered to stop.
Ryan Null, 19, Bethalto, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 as a result of a Jan. 18 traffic stop on Shaw Road about a quarter-mile south of Prairie Dell Road.
Taylor M. Radcliff, 19, Granite City, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a Nov. 29, 2015, incident in Brighton during which he allegedly was in possession of a purple pipe used for smoking marijuana.
Timothy J. Parnell, 34, Carlinville, is charged with deceptive practice for allegedly writing a check for $68.93 on Oct. 7, 2015, to Boente Shell, Carlinville, while knowing his bank would not honor the draft.
TRAFFIC
Charlene F. Branham, 47, Dow, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 16 incident on North Main Street at Palmer Street in Brighton. Branham also faces a traffic charge for alleged improper lane usage.
Paul Golden, 37, Carlinville, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 17 incident on Moneterey Road about a quarter mile north of Brushy Mound Road. Golden also was issued a traffic citation for allegedly failing to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accidnet.

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.
Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.
The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.
Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
