LAWSUITS

Larry Butler is suing Senior Health Specialties, Inc., doing business as The Glenwood of Staunton, and Leslie Vannoy, the administrator of The Glenwood of Staunton and Butler’s supervisor, in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, relating to retaliatory discharge on July 29, 2016, for requesting workers compensation benefits. The plaintiff, represented by Brunton Law Offices, Collinsville, says in his complaint that he sustained a back injury on July 22, 2016, while working at Senior Health Specialties and exercised his rights by obtaining medical treatment for his injuries and requesting Illinois Workers’ Compensation benefits from Senior Health Specialties but was discharged about a week later. The plaintiff is seeking past lost wages, future loss of earnings, loss of past and future fringe benefits, damages for past and future pain and suffering, and damages for emotional trauma.

Neal Carnaby and Sue Pirok have filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Matthew Stull and Miranda Steinbrook seeking $1,235 in unpaid rent, costs, and damages plus possession of a residence located in the 100 block of West Main, Staunton.

John and Kendra Tarr have filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Jeffrey Handy seeking unpaid rent of $8,000 plus possession of a residence located in the 1000 block of Grove Street, Virden.

Bmoore Properties LLC has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Alisha Maybrier seeking $800 in unpaid rent, costs, and damages plus possession of a residence located in the 110 block of South Jefferson, Medora.

Don Throne has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Jeffery Stoops seeking possession of property located in the 17000 block of Sawyerville Hills Road, Staunton.

Discover Bank is suing Micky Cody, Virden, for $14,679.17, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted Discover Bank credit card.

SMALL CLAIMS

William Kampwirth, Carlinville, is suing Megan Leitschuch and Jeffrey Crotty Jr., Staunton, for $5,000 the plaintiff claims is owed for breach of contract and unpaid work. According to the court records, the plaintiff claims he completed work on the defendant’s properties and was forced out by intimidation resulting in breach of contract and further alleges that he will not receive the money if a property is sold.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Cherie Lucas, Royal Lakes, for $918.62, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted Synchrony Bank/Wal-Mart credit card account.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Martin Pollock for $7,278.84, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted OneMain Financial Issuance Trust executed February 2015.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Timothy Pierson, Girard, for $6,135.87, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted charge account or line of credit issued by OneMain Financial Group.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Shaun Bond, Mount Olive, for $1,794.26, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted Citibank/Best Buy charge account.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Michael Clayton, Carlinville, for $1,375.86, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted Synchrony Bank/Care Credit line of credit or charge account.

Midland Funding LLC is suing Michelle Royer, Virden, for $1,624.68, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted GE Capital Retail Bank/Sam’s Club line of credit or charge account.

Barclays Bank Delaware is suing William Worthen, Bunker Hill, for $6,724.57, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on a defaulted Barclaycard credit card account.

Passalacqua & Powell Trucking Inc., Palmyra, is suing Mike Bowersock, Roodhouse, for $5,002.59, plus court costs, the plaintiff alleges is owed on an overdue account.

FELONIES

Larry Keffer, 59, Mount Olive, is charged with burglary and theft in connection with a July 25 incident in Benld when he entered a house in the 400 block of North 4th Street, Benld and stole Milwaukee brand power towels having a value less than $500.

Kevin Morgan, 35, Carlinville, is charged with methamphetamine possession in connection with a July 25 incident in Carlinville.

Jason Strahan, 40, Benld, is charged with possession of a certificate of title without complete assignment when he possessed a certificate of title to a 2000 Kia Sportage without complete assignment, driving on a suspended license, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle in connection with a July 29 incident in Sawyerville.

Brandon Wilson, 20, Staunton, is charged with aggravated battery and methamphetamine possession in connection with a July 28 incident in Staunton when he struck another male with a miniature bat.

William Corbin, 27, Gillespie, is charged with two counts of retail theft in connection with a July 30 incident at Wal-Mart, Carlinville when he stole hunting, phone, and video gaming accessories having a value in excess of $300 and having been previously convicted of theft in Montgomery County in April 2016.

MISDEMEANORS

Jason Reeves, 41, Bridgeport, IL, is charged with obstructing identification in connection with a July 26 incident when he furnished a false name to an Illinois State Police Trooper.

Jordan Ward, 19, Brighton, is charged with possession of a firearm without a firearm owner’s identification card in connection with an April 30 incident when he possessed a Mossber Maverick 88 12-gauge.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
