SMALL CLAIMS

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Jack Tellor, Bunker Hill, for $6,679.75, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted GE Capital Retail Bank credit card account.

Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Gregory Allen Stewart, Carlinville, for $4,653.16, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical services.

Dale Bruhn, Litchfield, is suing Johnny Scott Nash, Staunton, for $514.86, plus $153 in filing fees, the plaintiff claims he is owed for damage to the driver’s side door of a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Canam Professional Landscaping, LLC, Girard, is suing Gary Ayers, Auburn, for $1,453.75, plus court costs, allegedly owed for professional services.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Karla Mitchell, Bend, for $1,148.59, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Synchrony Bank credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Tiffany Gall, Carlinville, for $1,173.42, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Wesbank credit card account.

FELONIES

William C. Gurley, 28, Brighton, is charged with aggravated battery in connection with an Oct. 27 incident during which he allegedly struck a male victim in the back of the head with his closed fist while in Betsey Ann Village Park, Brighton.

Jeremy J. Beard, 43, Taylorville, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with an Oct. 28 incident during which he allegedly was in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine and a pipe for ingesting methamphetamine.

Travis L. Fanning, 21, Carlinville, is charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine in connection with an Oct. 30 incident in Carlinville.

Nicholas J. Taylor, 18, Staunton, is charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine in connection with a Nov. 5 incident in Staunton.

MISDEMEANORS

Danny A. Doty, Jr., 36, Benld, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a Nov. 4 incident during which he allegedly made physical contact of an “insulting or provoking nature” by spitting in the face of a female member of his household.

Andrew J. School, 28, Gillespie, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a Nov. 5 incident in Gillespie during which he allegedly hit his wife’s head repeatedly against a wall.

Randall S. Whitworth, 38, Benld, is charged with resisting a peace officer in connection with a Nov. 5 incident during which he allegedly pushed against against a Bunker Hill police officer as the officer attempted to place Whitworth in a squad car after placing him under arrest.

Lonnie R. W. Barger, 35, Springfield is charged with violating an order of protection in connection with a Nov. 6 incident in Virden during which he allegedly came within 500 feet of the place of employment of a person subject to an Aug. 30 court order of protection against him.

Christopher W. Korte, 19, Highland, is charged with retail theft in connection with a Nov. 8 incident during which he allegedly shop-lifted two bottles of vodka from the Carlinville Walmart store.

Marina K. Krummel charged with possession of cannabis in connection with an Oct. 17 incident in Carlinville during which she allegedly was in possession of 30 to 100 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

William R. Werner, Jr., 20, Gillespie, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a Nov. 6 incident in Gillespie.

TRAFFIC

Mason D. Bertolis, 22, Gillespie, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an Oct. 29 incident at 2:35 a.m. on Illinois Route 138 east of Prairietown Road. Bertolis also faces traffic charges for alleged illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and failure to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident.

Christopher B. Thompson, 36, Chatham, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 1 incident on Interstate 55 near milepost 46.5. He also is charged with violating a restriction on his driver’s license requiring him to wear corrective lenses.

Amanda L. Vernon, 65, Bend, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 6 incident on Trolley Street at Rose Street in Bend. She also faces a traffic charge for allegedly failing to reduce the speed of her vehicle to avoid an accident.

Paul S. Norman, 60, Girard, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 8 incident at 5:49 a.m. on Illinois Route 4 at Harvest Road. Norman also received a traffic citation for alleged improper lane usage.

LaVern G. Rosenthal, 85, Mount Olive, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an Oct. 29 incident on Reservoir Road at East Leonard Street, Staunton. Rosethal also was cited for allegedly failing to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident.

Randall S. Whitworth, 38, Benld, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 5 incident at 1:14 a.m. on Washington Street at Wilbur Street in Bunker Hill.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
