LAWSUITS

NMTC, Inc., doing business as Matco Tools is seeking a judgment against Dennis Rull, Bunker Hill, for alleged breach of contract and wrongful detention of property. According to the suit, Rull entered into a dealership agreement with the plaintiff in November 2011 and subsequently borrowed $72,000 at 8.25 percent interest from the plaintiff in December of the same year to purchase tools and equipment. The complaint alleges the loan contract called for weekly payments of $203.76 for 10 years but that Rull has been in default on the loan since Jan. 22, 2016. Count I of the suit, alleging wrongful detention of property, seeks a court order to take possession of $63,000 worth of tools that allegedly are in Rull’s possession, plus $350 in damages for wrongful detention, along with court costs and attorney fees. Count II, alleging a breach of contract, seeks a judgment of $56,486.35 that Rull allegedly owes on the original loan, plus attorney fees in the amount of $350, along with court costs.

One Main Financial Group, LLC, is suing Linda Evans, Alton, for $10,000.50, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted loan agreement for $7,829.85 at an interest rate of 35.99 percent that allegedly was executed between the two parties in October 2014.

SMALL CLAIMS

Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, is suing Anthony Williams, Bunker Hill, for $587.30, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank/J.C. Penney credit card account.

Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, is suing Valerie M. Stewart, Palmyra, for $4,236, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank/Sears credit card account.

Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, is suing Bonnie S. Zirkelbach, Benld, for $4,645.41, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Citibank/Sears credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Vicki Knott, Staunton, for $1,902.10, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Credit One Bank credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Mandi Harlow, Modesto, for $826.62, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank/Old Navy credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Nancy Roberson, Gillespie, for $2,931.72, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank/Pay Pal credit account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Ryan Zumwalt, Mount Olive, for $1,043.37, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Credit One Bank credit card account.

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing William Stack, Brighton, for $801.13, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted Synchrony Bank/Sam’s Club credit card account.

One Main Financial Group is suing Jessica and Joshua Koniak, Gillespie, for $4,735.36, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted $4,100.66 loan executed in September 2015 at an interest rate of 35.99 percent.

One Main Financial Group is suing Zachary Lovely, Girard, for $7,766.91, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is owed on an allegedly defaulted $6,000 loan executed in May 2015 at an interest rate of 35.99 percent.

Kurt Patel, doing business as the Carlinvilla Motel, Carlinville, is suing Gary Rutledge, Carlinville, for $860, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims he is owed for services rendered.

Anna Harlinski, Fort Smith, Ark., is suing Lynn Bruemmer, Wilsonville, for $1,975 that the plaintiff claims she is owed for rental property and expenses.

Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Kyle Wesley Kulenkamp, Carlinville, for $2,056, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is due for medical services.

Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Gregory and Rebecca Lynn Beichler, Carlinville, for $1,431.56, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is due for medical services.

Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Adam R. and Melissa K. Marshall, Virden, for $4,525.59, plus court costs, that the plaintiff claims is due for medical services.

Collection Management, Maryland Heights, Mo., is suing Anthony Wise, Carlinville, for $5,728 allegedly owed to Carlinville Area Hospital and $225 allegedly owed to Girard Family Healthcare, for a total of $5,953, plus court costs.

FELONIES

Holly R. Bennett, 45, Sorento, is charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine and driving on a revoked driver’s license in connection with a Dec. 5, 2016, incident. The driving on a revoked license was elevated to a felony due to a previous conviction on Bennett’s record for driving on a revoked or suspended driver’s license.

Mark A. Miller, Jr., 36, Decatur, is charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license in connection with a Dec. 17, 2016, incident during which he allegedly drove a 2011 Ford SUV in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near mile marker 45 at a time when his license was subject to revocation. The charge was elevated to a felony due to prior convictions on Millers record for driving on a revoked or suspended license in Macon and DeWitt counties.

David W. Bowers, 20, Brighton, is charged with failing to register as a sex offender as of Jan. 6 for allegedly failing to register with the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department within three days of becoming a resident in the Sheriff’s jurisdiction.

Jennifer L. Pickett, 34, Gillespie, is charged with forgery for allegedly altering a check written to her on Sept. 23, 2016, and drawn on a First National Bank account by changing the amount of the check from $100 to $400.

Roy E. Davis, 30, Carlinville, is charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine in connection with a Dec. 4, 2016, incident in Carlinville.

MISDEMEANORS

Donald E. Gray, Jr., 46, Staunton, is charged with possession of 10 to 30 grams of a substance containing cannabis in connection with a Dec. 17, 2016, incident in Staunton.

Thomas L. Pittman, 40, Carlinville, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a Jan. 9 incident in Carlinville during which he allegedly made contact of an insulting or provoking nature by grabbing his mother’s stomach in an area where a medical device was located.

David K. Daniel, 42, Carlinville, is charged with battery in connection with a Jan. 10 incident in Carlinville during which he allegedly struck another male in the face with his fist, causing bodily harm.

Dallas M. Karrick, 57, Carlinville, is charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a Nov. 11, 2016, incident during which he allegedly yelled and threw household items within his mother’s residence in such a manner as to alarm and disturb his mother and provoke a breach of the peace.

Sarah C. Goodman, 36, Springfield is charged with obstructing identification in connection with a Jan. 11 incident during which she allegedly provided a false name to an Illinois State Police trooper who had legally detained her at about 11:59 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near mile marker 44. Goodman also faces a traffic charge for alleged illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Shane D. Cole, 19, Nokomis, is charged with criminal trespass to a residence in connection with a Jan. 11 incident during which he allegedly entered a home without authority in the 600 block of West Second South Street in Carlinville.

Charlotte M. Crook, 19, Bunker Hill, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 and unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a Dec. 31, 2016, incident on Franklin Street at Park Street in Bunker Hill.

TRAFFIC

Daren L. Wright, 34, Cottage Hills, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 8 incident at about 2:20 a.m. on Shipman Cut-Off Road at Brighton-Bunker Hill Road. Wright also faces traffic charges for allegedly disregarding a stop sign and failing to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident.

Shane A. Fay, 38, Joliet, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 10 incident at about 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of South Main Street in Palmyra. Fay also faces two counts of failure to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident and improper traffic lane usage.

Vassilis Kitsas, 32, Livingston, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 9 incident at about 9:22 p.m. in Illinois Route 16 at Sherwood Road. Kitsas also was issued a traffic citation for alleged improper lane usage.

Staunton man found guilty of criminal sexual assault

A verdict was rendered on Tuesday in about 35 minutes for a Staunton man who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault.

Dillard Dehart Jr., 66 of Staunton, was charged with the offense on February 17, 2022, after his niece had accused him of the offense and had secretly recorded parts of the offense.

The secretly recorded videos were played for the jury, according to Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison who called multiple witnesses and tried the case.

Sentencing for Dehart Jr. is set for October 4, 2023.
