First MidAmerica Credit Union is suing Robert P. Edwards, Benld, for $10,468, plus interest of 7.25 percent from Sept. 9, and attorney fees and court costs. The suit alleges Edwards entered into a $15,207.58 loan at 7.25 percent interest on Aug. 6, 2016, to purchase a 2011 Kawasaki Voyager. According to the suit, Edwards defaulted on the loan, resulting in the vehicle being repossessed and sold in August this year. The judgment sought represents the deficiency remaining after proceeds from the sale was applied to the debt.
Alexander Loveless, Gillespie, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Theodore H. Hopper, Gillespie, seeking $728 in alleged unpaid rent, plus possession of residential premises located in the 400 block of Park Avenue, Gillespie.
Sunset Lake Association has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against EverBank, seeking possession of premises located at 30205 Walnut Drive on Sunset Lake west of Girard. According to the complaint, the bank took possession of the property in late August 2015 but has failed to maintain the property since that time in violation of terms of the Sunset Lake Association lease. The complaint alleges the bank has failed to maintain the property in a sanitary condition, failed to keep the property free of weeds, leaves, tall grass and debris, and has allowed the property to fall into disrepair, attracting vagrants due to the vacancy and condition of disrepair. In addition to possession of the property, the suit seeks attorney fees and court costs from the defendant.
Daniel J. Mann-Clark, 27, Carlinville, is charged with retail theft in connection with an Aug. 24 incident during which he allegedly shop-lifted video games valued at less than $300 from the Carlinville Walmart store.
Bruce A. Zollicoffer, 42, Royal Lakes, is charged with failure to register as a sex offender for allegedly failing to complete his annual registration as a sex offender with the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department as of Sept. 21.
Jared E. Gibbs, 30, Palmyra, is charged with aggravated battery in connection with a Sept. 30 incident in Palmyra during which he made contact of an “insulting or provoking” nature by striking a Palmyra police officer in the chest with his elbow while knowing the victim was a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties.
Mattie Jo Gray, also known as Mattie Jo Pesavento, 34, Staunton, is charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine in connection with an Oct. 14 incident in Staunton.
Patrick L. Martin, 24, Gillespie, is charged with resisting a peace office in connection with an Oct. 10 incident in Gillespie during which he allegedly pulled away from a city police officer as the officer was handcuffing Martin.
Michael J. Hedden, 30, Gillespie, is charged with escape for allegedly failing to report to Macoupin County Jail on Oct. 2 to begin a 60-day sentence handed down Sept. 26 following his conviction on a charge of resisting a peace officer. The original charge stemmed from a Sept. 22 incident during which he allegedly ran from a Gillespie police officer and pulled away from the officer’s grasp.
Glenn D. Rice, 46, Carlinville, is charged with escape for allegedly failing to report to Macoupin County Jail on Sept. 21 to begin a 160-day jail sentence handed down March 6 following his conviction on a charge of producing more than five but less than 20 cannabis plants.
Kristian J. Bottoms, 39, Girard is charged with escape for allegedly failing to report to Macoupin County Jail on Oct. 7 to begin a jail sentence handed down Sept. 29 in connection with a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of a black-jack or switchblade.
Amy Hartman, 32, Moro, is charged with retail theft in connection with an Aug. 21 incident during which she allegedly drove away from T.J.’s, Benld, without paying for less than $150 worth of gasoline.
Melvin J. Boda, 68, Benld, is charged with theft of lost or mislaid property in connection with an April 14 incident during which he allegedly took control of a golf bag and set of golf clubs with the intent to deprive the owner of the use of the property while having reasonable means to identify the owner and failing to take reasonable measures to return the property to the owner.
Kari L. Katuramu, 34, Mount Olive, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with an Oct. 6 incident at about 9:41 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near mile marker 43.5. Katuramu also faces multiple traffic charges including: changing lanes without signaling, failure to wear a seat belt, improper traffic lane usage, following too closely, the operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 26 to 34 miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit and improper display of a license plate or sticker.
