A 34-year-old Macoupin County woman was killed inside her residence in the small Macoupin County village of Chesterfield Thursday afternoon, February 8, and the suspect is in custody at the Macoupin County Jail.
Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl said the sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 2:31 p.m. on Thursday in reference to a female that had been shot in the 400 block of Main Street in Chesterfield. Kahl said the caller advised that the suspect fled the scene and was able to describe the vehicle to authorities.
Deputies arrived to find 34-year-old Rachel Warren deceased.
The Macoupin County Chief Deputy located the suspect’s vehicle before authorities arrived on scene and began pursuing the vehicle with additional assistance from Jersey County Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit extended into Jersey County where the suspect was apprehended. There were no injuries in the pursuit.
Sheriff Kahl said the suspect, David Buck Jr., 34 of Medora, is in custody at the Macoupin County Jail being held on a no-bond warrant from the Texas Department of Corrections.
Assisting the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation is Illinois State Police and Jersey County Sheriff’s Office.
