Maya Marcacci represented Macoupin County during the 2020 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant this past weekend in Springfield and received the great honor of being named the 1st runner-up behind only Miss White County Fair Kelsi Kessler of Carmi who was chosen as 2020 State Fair Queen.
A personal interview was conducted on Friday and the preliminary competition took place on Saturday with Marcacci competing in the evening preliminary round, consisting of a one-minute speech, swimwear and evening gown competitions.
For Sunday’s final round, the contestant field was narrowed to the top 15. Contestants then competed in swimwear, evening gown and communication skills one-minute speech, as well as answering three on-stage questions.
Marcacci’s questions involved her naming something on her bucket list, her thoughts on requiring an I.D. in order to vote, and whether or not industrial hemp would become a major crop in Illinois.
Marcacci is the daughter of Mike and Susan Marcacci of Benld and is pursuing a biology degree at Lewis & Clark Community College. She plans to enroll in medical school and become an anesthesiologist.
