Gillespie Middle School students who achieved the “40-Book Reading Challenge” were honored with a field trip to Edwardsville on Monday, April 30.
The group started their day at the Edwardsville Public Library where an event was hosted by the St. Louis Blues. Students viewed and participated in a presentation put on by Louie, the Blues mascot, in which they learned about “scoring” goals in life through learning, healthy eating, and staying active. Students received autographed cards from Louie and even got the chance to practice their slap shots outside.
The group then traveled to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville for some fun at the bowling lanes and ended their adventure having lunch in the campus dining hall.
