The Partnership for Educational Excellence is proud to announce the award of 34 classroom mini-grants worth a total of $15,720.19 to the students of Ben-Gil Elementary School and Gillespie Middle School.
“Once again we were impressed and encouraged by the imaginative ways in which Community Unit School District 7 teachers help their students prepare for academic and life success,” says John Fassero, Jr., president of the IRS-chartered, not-for-profit 501(c)3 education foundation.
This round of mini-grants covered classrooms from pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. No applications were received from Gillespie High School. This semester’s curricular projects range from literacy to environmental science, from speech to math, and from biographies to physical science.
“Since 1992 our many donors, both large and small, have allowed us to channel more than $500,000 into classrooms from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade,” notes Fassero. “Teachers tell us what they need to enhance curriculum and — within our guidelines — we try to give it to them in the form of grants up to $500 per classroom.”
