Lifelong Staunton resident and business owner, Chi Ebert Pelo, was sworn in as a member of the Macoupin County Board following the resignation of Mike “Mr. T.” Tranter. She will join Roberta “Sissy” Vojas in representing the City of Staunton on the Macoupin County Board.
Pelo is the owner of Sugar Petunia Photography and the daughter of locals Bonnie Stewart and Eddie Ebert. She is married to Chuck Pelo and has four children.
“I am deeply honored to have been given the trust and responsibility to serve Macoupin County and my hometown of Staunton,” Pelo said. “I will not take the responsibility lightly. I hope to bring Staunton to the forefront and bring services and create jobs in our community.”
Newly elected Macoupin County Democrat Party Chairman, Pam Monetti said she was looking forward to a new voice on the Macoupin County Board.
“Chi’s small business experience will enable her to make decisions based on the continuing economic stability of our county,” Monetti added.
Due to the timing of Tranter’s resignation, the seat will be up for election in November. Anyone interested in getting involved with the local democrat party can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
