PHOTOS: Gillespie Football versus Vandalia
The Gillespie High School football team opened their 2015 season with a 28-6 victory over the visiting Vandalia Vandals Friday night in Gillespie. The victory was the first win under the return of Coach Don Dobrino and the first win in two seasons for Gillespie after the team went 0-9 last year under Coach Borgini.
Gillespie travels to Litchfield next Friday evening.
It was a full house Friday evening as the crowd welcomed Coach Don Dobrino back to the field to coach this year’s football team.

Nineteen young girls are vying for the title of 2018 Little Miss Macoupin County Fair. The pageant will take place on Wednesday June 27 at 7 p.m.

Meet this year’s candidates vying for the title of 2018 Miss Black Diamond Days and 2018 Junior Miss Black Diamond Days. The pageant will take place on Friday, June 1 in the Ben-Gil Elementary School gymnasium starting at 6 p.m. and crowning this year’s royalty will be 2017 royalty Maya Marcacci and Chloe Hedrick. Over 120 students at Gillespie High School enjoyed great weather Saturday evening as they walked into this year’s prom, themed “Black and White Ball”. Walk-ins took place from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. immediately followed by coronation where Chase Odell-Mueller and Mackenzie Kasarda were named 2018 King and Queen.
Prom endured until 11 p.m. and then post prom was available to the students.
