The Gillespie High School softball team (20-3) is on a 3-game winning streak after finding its groove at the plate. The Miners hit the 20-victory mark Monday evening with a 5-3 win over Bunker Hill after the team prevented a late comeback by the Bunker Hill Minutemen despite allowing two runs to score in the final inning of play.
It’s the fourth time under head coach Michelle Smith that Gillespie has reached the 20-win mark, but the first time with junior pitcher Addison Bryant. The most recent season where the significant achievement was reached dates back four years to the 2011-2012 season where senior pitcher Laura Halpin helped the regional championship team to a 23-6 season.
