Project Kid Kare has started their campaign to help students in CUSD #7 that cannot afford to purchase supplies start the school year off with new school supplies.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we will not be collecting supplies for our donors and students’ safety. This year we will be purchasing pre-packed supply kits.
Community members are invited to help out by adopting a student for $20 or making a monetary donation towards the purchase of a kit. All donations will be gratefully accepted.
Project Kid Kare has been helping students for 20 years. Each student will have the supplies and a new backpack waiting for them on the first day of school. Without the support of the community, this program would not be possible.
Child size masks are also needed for students. Sizes needed are small preschool age to high school. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Easton 217-556-3807 or Mary Griffel at 217-556-5456.
Donations can be mailed to and checks payable to Project Kid Kare 340 Kelly Street, Gillespie or dropped off at the Benld Library or Hebenstreit’s in Benld during hours.
Families needing help purchasing school supplies can pick up an application at the Benld and Gillespie Libraries and United Community Bank. School registration packets are also available at these locations.
Applications and a $3 donation per child are to be returned during registration days to the Gillespie Methodist Church parking lot located next to the school.
Applications will only be accepted July 28, 29, 30 during registration. If you have any questions, please call Donna Easton at 217-556-3807.
