The Illinois School Code requires school districts to perform a fingerprint-based criminal history records information check, also referred to as a CHRI check or “background check”, on school personnel. Illinois Regional Offices of Education (ROE) offer livescan fingerprinting as a community service for school personnel.
ROE #40 offices in Carlinville and Jerseyville also offer this for businesses and individuals requiring a background check. Fingerprint scans are sent electronically and directly to the Illinois State Police and the FBI where they are processed, and the results are sent to the appropriate agency. This is an important and a necessary step toward establishing greater student safety for all, and an essential service ROEs provide for their constituents.
ROE #40 provides CHRI services for all public school and district-related personnel, administrators, student teachers and volunteers required by statute to have an ISP and FBI criminal background check.
In addition to school and district personnel, the Carlinville and Jerseyville ROE #40 offices provide non-educational Live Scan fingerprinting and CHRI services pertaining to Concealed Carry, IDFPR Licenses, Uniform Information Conviction Act (UCIA), Physicians, Nurses, Massage Therapists, Locksmiths, Security Guards, and a number of other vocations.
Your local ROE is pleased to offer this public service to assist our districts, schools, and communities; providing an essential level of safety and security assurance for all.
