The Illinois Department of Transportation started construction on the Illinois Route 4 bridge near the Staunton Country Club on Tuesday, September 24. The construction is expected to last until the end of the 2019.
The bridge construction, which covers a Norfolk Southern Railroad, reduces traffic to one lane and is controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
