Mrs. Angela Brink leads the high school choir.
Music ranks near the top of ushering in the holiday season and Gillespie’s middle school and high school choirs did just that on Tuesday evening, December 17. Under the direction of Angela Brink, the middle school took the spotlight for the first half of the concert.
The middle school choir in their white tops and black bottoms opened the evening singing “Celebrate the Season” and then “Bright Shining Star” before Juliann Hendricks played a piano solo.
Following Hendricks solo, the eighth grade choir sang “Salsa Noel” and “Carol of the Angels”. Breanne Mull then wrapped up the eighth grade songs with a piano solo before the seventh and eighth grade choirs combined to sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
The high school Christmas octet comprised of Ashlynn Jackson, Kailtin Henrichs, Maddie Bierbaum, Erika Schmidt, Chris Halpin, Layne Knoche, Michael Hendreson, and Nathan Henrichs took center stage to open the high school half of the concert. The octet sang “The Christmas Song’ and then turned the evening over to the high school choir.
The high school choir stole the show in their orange and black robes. The choir sang in unison for “Let the Carols Ring” and “Silent Night”, then the men sang “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and the women followed with “Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal”.
The evening of family entertainment was closed with the high school choir singing “Carol of the Bells”. The audience gave both the middle school and high school choir a standing ovation to conclude the concert.
