Carl H. Raymond, 86, of Bunker Hill died at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton on Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was born July 16, 1929, in Bunker Hill to Carl R Raymond and Edith (Schulthes) Raymond. He married Eunice Jean (Lenzi) Raymond on August 29, 1948, in Chesterfield, IL.
Carl was a member of the 1947 graduating class of the Bunker Hill High School. He was a veteran of the US Army after having served with the Occupation Forces in Japan after WWII and served with the 25th Infantry Division. He later was recalled during the Korean Conflict serving with the 2nd Infantry Division.
He retired in 1983 after having worked as a sales manager for Sears, Inc. for 32.5 years. Carl was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge of Bunker Hill, a member of the Eastern Star and lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308 of Alton.
He is survived by his spouse, E. Jean Raymond of Bunker Hill; son, Michael Raymond of Bethalto; brother, Donald A. (Mary Ann) Raymond of Alton; foster sisters, Carol Hanner, Sharon Orban and Patsy Mary; and several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. William H. Raymond; and sister, Linda Lee Raymond.
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services are Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Philip Cressey officiating. Burial will be at Woodburn Cemetery in Woodburn.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church of Woodburn.
