Charles Herbert Wilson, 81, of Litchfield, passed away Thurs., June 2, 2016, at 1:07 a.m. in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on June 13, 1934, in Jefferson County, MO, a son of Alfred William and Eliza Alice (Kahl) Wilson.
Over the years, he was a member of Laborer’s International Local #773 in Marion and worked at several truck stops along Rt. 66 and 1-55 as a mechanic including Elroy’s Truck Stop and Jack’s Corner. He bartended at the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634, was a deputy sheriff for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and had also worked for the City of Litchfield Street and Lake Department, where he retired after 19 years.
He was well known for working on lawn mowers and small engines. Chuck was a St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan and was also an avid outdoorsman. He married Darlene Joan Suits on May 7, 1955 in Litchfield. She died Sept. 10, 2012.
He is survived by two sons Randle (Lois) Wilson and Gregory (LeAnn) Wilson; two daughters, Valerie (David) Belt and Cynthia Taylor, all of Litchfield; brother, Alfred Wilson of Hillsboro; three sisters, Ethel File, Hazel Davis, both of Litchfield, and Evelyn Seitz of Jackson, MO; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; six brothers, Henry Wilson, Walter Wilson, Roy Wilson, Art Wilson, Robert Wilson and infant Edwin Wilson; and two sisters, Dorothy Billiter and Alice Prose.
Funeral services will be held Tues., June 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Brother Ed Diveley, of Southside Church in Litchfield, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home.
