Carl D. Olive, 85, of Gillespie, died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on Monday, November 9, 2015. He was born on May 12, 1930, in Alhambra to Lawrence Olive and Martha (Burgnone) Olive. He married Elma (Powell) Olive.
He was a veteran of the US Army having served during Korea and later was a retired farmer. Carl was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Gillespie, IVictor Baptist Church of Branson, MO, and Gideon Society.
He is survived by his spouse, Elma Olive of Gillespie; son, Randy (Cindy) Olive of Gillespie; daughters: Kay (Andy) Houser of Eagarville, Judy (Steve) Kluthe of Gillespie, Patti Snider of Carlinville and Pam (Marty) Kessinger of Carlinville; step children: Ronald Cornelius, Jimmy Cornelius and Judy DeBolte; grandchildren: Erica Schoen, Alaina Olive, Kelsey Snider, Allison Snider, Melissa Snider, Maura Kluthe, Michael Kessinger and Nicole Kessinger; 8 step grandchildren; step great grandchildren, Aaron O’Brien and Jordan O’Brien; great-grandchild, Landon DeVries; brother, Roy Olive of Florissant, MO; and sister, Vera Henschen of Highland.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary Olive and brother, Harry Olive.
Visitation services will be on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are on Friday, November 13, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Gillespie with Pastor Dane Solari officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cemetery in Alhambra.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Boys and Girls Club.
